Courses

Module 1 is a thorough look at the process and procedures for identifying and proactively recruiting the human sources needed to satisfy the specific information requirements (IRs) of an organization. Proactive source recruitment requires a great deal of teamwork, strategy and effort, and when done correctly, will set the stage for a strong relationship between the handling team and source, while maintaining the integrity of the organization for future operations.

Training Duration: 2- days – basic level / 4 days – advanced level

Module 2 focuses on face-to-face interactions between handler and source. Often dynamic and unpredictable, the handler must not only be able to extract information of intelligence value efficiently, they must also have the agility to cope with any issue, problem or crisis a source might present in a meeting. This training equips the source handler with the very best tools to ensure that all of the information is extracted accurately and that the source is kept on track, stays safe, and remains content with the relationship.

Training Duration:
2-4 days depending on client needs

The Source Development portion of Module 3 explores ways to enhance the source’s personal security, and as a result, that of the handling team, as well as increasing the source’s ability to obtain and deliver the highest quality information to the handler. The Case Management portion of Module 3 presents ways to strategically influence the source’s direction and access based on current and future organizational needs. While many case management decisions are made at the command level, handlers will be expected to provide their unique insight in order to assist management in making realistic, achievable goals for the case.

Training Duration: 2-3 days depending on client needs

Module 4 – Standard takes an in-depth look at the tradecraft required by the handling team to conduct safe and secure source operations in a variety of environments, from permissible to hostile. The training is centered on two ‘Meet Mechanics’ that are used to facilitate secure face- to-face meetings with a source: ‘Fixed Point Meet’ and ‘Foot / Mobile Pickup’. At the completion of the training, the participants will have practiced the planning and execution of both Meet Mechanics and will have a proper understanding of how and when these tactics are to be employed.

Training Duration:
5 days

The Level 1 Source Handling Operations Course consists of expanded versions of Modules 1-3 and includes Module 4 – Standard. Confirmatory exercises will be conducted throughout the course on a progressively challenging scale. The course culminates with a two-day validation exercise that will test the participants as a team on all aspects of the material covered.

Training Duration:
15 days

The Level 2 Source Handling Operations Course consists of expanded versions of Modules 1-3 and includes Module 4 – Advanced. Confirmatory exercises will be conducted throughout the course on a progressively challenging scale. The course culminates with a three-day validation exercise that will test the participants as a team on all aspects of the material covered and will reinforce their understanding of advanced source handling operations.

Training Duration:
22 days

GREYSCALE SOURCE HANDLER SELECTION PROCESS DEVELOPMENT

A robust selection process is the first step in managing the risk inherent in sensitive Source Handling Operations. Ensure you have the right people handling the right sources. 

Given the nature of source Handling Operations, it should be recognized that not everyone possesses the natural abilities, temperament and wherewithal to be a successful source handler. In many organizations, those who wish to become source handlers will have to first successfully complete a rigorous selection process that tests the core competencies required to be a source handler. Mental, physical, and psychological testing are all key components of this process.
